Anatomy of an A+: A Look Inside the Process of One of the World’s Most Efficient Studiers
As teachers, we can help to elicit interesting questions from our students by being 'wonderers' ourselves. Students often work in small groups at this stage to share what they have learned through the lessons. As students discuss and write down their knowledge and experience, they use their productive skills of speaking and writing while applying the new vocabulary and grammar they have learned. When the discussion moves to a whole-class activity, students have the confidence to speak out about their learning experiences. This is often followed up by a project, in which students work together and use what they have learned to achieve a goal.
Essentially, inquiry-based learning is a natural way to learn a second language. Later, when the final version was released and states began adopting the standards, NSTA started to develop resources that would assist educators with their implementation. Along the way, NSTA learned that even the simplest of resources, like a one-page cheat sheet, can be extremely useful. This guide also provides the appropriate performance expectations; disciplinary core ideas; practices; crosscutting concepts; connections to engineering, technology, and applications of science; and connections to nature of science.
It is designed to be used with the NGSS. The four Quick-Reference Guides are indispensable to science teachers at all levels, as well as to administrators, curriculum developers, and teacher educators. Finally, all of the information gathered in specific sections of the book include muscle table appendices to help students, professionals and anatomy lovers further their knowledge and mastery of difficult anatomical structures.
