The other day More Mojo was crawling his 16 month old self up the stairs. When we got to the top I grabbed him and headed down when I saw 3 YO Mojo had taken out his crayons and was coloring the hardwood floors. Anybody that has children can relate to that.
A child that uses their creative powers with the correct tools, but on the incorrect surface is all too common. To remove crayons from wood floors or walls is actually simple. Just get some warm water on a wash cloth, pour some baking soda on the cloth and then wipe the surface clean. Just a couple of moments after 3YO Mojo practiced his Picasso on the floor it was a clean slate again.
If they write on walls use a coarser cloth, like a shop cloth, get the water hotter and then apply the baking soda. Those surfaces are a bit more difficult to clean up, but it works. My son decided to color a mural on his wall with crayon when I put him in time out. For some reason I decided to pick up his pencil and see what would happen if I used the eraser thinking it can't make it any worse! Much to my amazement the crayon came right off!!!
Just make sure the eraser has already been used so it doesn't have the film on it and watch it erase like magic!!! Thanks for information. Below is a video that I really liked because it shows what happens when you get crayon all over your walls. These college students thought they were moving out, and they had to repaint the wall anyway, so they would just color all over the walls with crayon. After all, they thought, it says Crayons are washable, right? Well, the video shows them trying to remove it, by scrubbing, WD, Goo Gone , and with hair dryers all of which work pretty well, by the way, even though it is still a lot of work if you've got a lot of marks.
Basically, the video shows that it can be quite difficult to remove all those crayon marks, so be as careful as possible to keep your little artists on the paper as much as possible. Be warned, one of the scribbles on the wall you can see is a curse word, so if that offends you, don't watch. White toothpaste by: Anonymous I've used white toothpaste many a time to get rid of crayon marks; but it's also excellent for cleaning off black heel marks, polishing tarnished silver , and cleaning chrome. Whoever thought it up should be commended; this stuff is more useful than I ever imagined! I found this blog and tried a pencil eraser and it worked wonders. It does take a little bit of elbow grease but I was able to get it done.

After the fact I used a wet dryer sheet and it cleaned the wall very well of any dirt and leftover crayon residue. Use toothpaste by: Anonymous My children colored on a high gloss painted wall and I used toothpaste, an old tooth brush and baby wipes. I put the toothpaste on the tooth brush and just started scrubbing the colored areas gently and it was coming off very easy and then just used the baby wipes to wipe off the toothpaste, then bam done.
All of the coloring gone! Very great method! Used dryer sheets by: Stephanie I tried the toothpaste. It worked but took a while and didn't remove it all.
Mayo didn't work at all for me although I used the Olive Oil mayo so maybe that had something to do with it. What DID work was used dryer sheets. I got them wet and started gently wiping the crayon. I save old dryer sheets after they're used in the laundry and they work for a number of other things too.
