Customer Reviews 1 Review this book. It is a very complete book, but can not be used as a field guide for basically 3 reasons. Most birds cannot be found in the index because it starts with the first word, not the genus or species group. For instance, if you want to search for Fantails you have to know the exact name of the bird, you cannot look for the group Fantails and work on from that - there is little to no description of the bird that you can use in the field. So basically it is a first good effort, but a lot of work has to be done for a possible second edition.

Work on the index and use old and new names in the index and text.
